Hello, I’m Sophie, an artist and illustrator specialising in drawing from life.

I am a freelance artist and illustrator based on the edge of the Lake District. I studied illustration at Edinburgh College of Art and have worked as a freelance illustrator since then. I love to travel and to draw on location where possible to really capture the immediate energy of the particular place I am drawing. My inspiration comes from the world around me, whether it be from new and inspiring places or from keenly observing the apparently ordinary and familiar in everyday situations. I work predominantly in pen and watercolour but also sometimes in acrylics. I love drawing animals and am at my happiest following sheep or chickens around a field attempting to capture them with my pen before they scamper away. I often work my final drawings up in to books, limited edition prints and designs for greetings cards and coasters, many of which you will find for sale in my shop.

I am happy to undertake commissions and I also run workshops so please contact me if you are interested and would like further information or a quote.
