Freelance art workshops

I am a teacher and facilitator of art and illustration workshops related to my creative work. I have a PGCE in post compulsory education and experience teaching a range of groups from primary age to adults in a variety of formal and informal settings.

I run one-off day and part day sessions and series of classes in a variety of subjects including but not exclusive to those listed below. I am flexible and if you are interested in me running a workshop for you and have a specific subject or location in mind then I would be happy to discuss your requirements with you, please get in touch.

Drawing from life

Experiment with drawing directly from a subject in front of you either on location using sketchbooks or indoors using still life set ups. Create a range of quick and longer sketches using different materials and use these to develop a final artwork/illustration if time allows.

Book illustration

Exploring the world of book illustration you will be encouraged to think visually and experiment with different illustration techniques in a fun and supportive environment. Explore subjects such as character design, storyboarding and the interplay of text and imagery in visual narratives.

Watercolour

Experiment with introductory watercolour techniques including simple and more complex mark making, use of colour and composition. Through fun experimental quick and longer exercises you will be encouraged to work in a free way with watercolours and hopefully build up your confidence with this medium that people often either love or hate!

Book-binding

Depending on your time frame make a range of folded sketchbooks and some simple, soft-backed and/or hard-backed books using different bookbinding techniques. Techniques include Japanese stab binding and pamphlet stitch with multiple signatures.
