Very pleased that I have finally finished illustrating ‘Allan the Grumpy Duck’ a children’s picture book set in the Lake District and it is now available to buy!
It has been a challence but also a lot of fun to illustrate combining two of my favourite things to draw…Lake District scenes and animals.
“Allan is a grumpy duck who cannot swim or fly but dreams of surfing. Join Allan and his friends on their adventure from Pooley Bridge in the Lake District to Lowther castle to fulfill his dream to surf.”
This children’s picture book is written by Dominic Brown and illustrated by Sophie Martin. The book is set in the Lake District and follows the adventures of Allan the grumpy duck who is a parking attendant at Pooley bridge on Ullswater Lake and his animal friends including red squirrels Rusty and Rosie and swans Julian and James. The book has a rough age range guide of 6-12 with plenty of animals to spot in the pictures for younger children whilst the story is read to them and lots to capture and challenge the independent early reader too. The story has an educational element too and includes reference to some moral lessons for discussion including the importance of sharing, being kind to others and embracing our own and the identity of others.
The book is now available to buy on my website here https://sophiemartinillustration.co.uk/product/allan-the-grumpy-duck-picture-book/
And also from a few retailers across Cumbria including Lowther Castle http://lowthercastle.org/shop/
