I had a very enjoyable 2 days working with wonderfully enthusiastic junior pupils at St Peter’s C of E Primary School in Leeds creating these colourful bird designs reflecting the school’s key values of Respect, Educational success, Spiritual growth and Independence. We sketched out ideas for imagery we think of to do with the key values first and then drew them out on our final bird shapes. We then used fineliners to outline our drawings and words and oil pastels to add colour. We looked at the colourful artwork of Brazilian artist Romero Britto for inspiration. Some photos and lovely feedback from the pupils:
“I really enjoyed the experience of being with a real artist, she taught me some amazing skills which will help all my life”
“Sophie was kind and caring. Whenever I put up my hand she came immediately. She improved my art skills”
“Sophie I liked everything. Your art is way better than English, Science and Geography. I wish you can visit us more but thank you for visiting us on Monday I will miss you.”
